Welcome to Wallartistry Studio!
I am Debra Campbell, owner, educator and award winning artisan. As long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to do something in the arts. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from Bowling Green State University in 1993, I enjoyed a successful first career in retail visual merchandising. I utilized the skills I learned at BGSU in fashion, interior design, and color theory.
Working for retailers like Kohl’s, Elder-Beerman, McAlpins, and Henri Bendel led to my first experiences in gilding, mural work, and other decorative painting techniques. A new passion was born! I started painting professionally on my own in 2000. I constantly strive to learn new techniques by experimenting with new methods and researching new products. I believe that staying on top of the latest trends in decorative finishing and interior design are vital to a successful business. I value continuing education and have taken courses in plastering, decorative finish techniques, stenciling, and cabinet finishing from some of our industry’s finest instructors. I am a Certified Master Plasterer and love to share my knowledge and skill set with others.
I bring to the classroom experience in residential and commercial jobs. I have done not only small, one room projects, but also large-scale projects that require a tight time line and managing a large crew of artisans ensuring an even hand throughout the project. I have tens of thousands of square feet of experience that I can share with students. It’s one thing to make a nice sample board, but nothing beats real job experience! I was asked to do several projects for ABC’s Extreme Makeover Home Edition, have won two National “Top Job” Awards, and have been featured in local and national newspapers, magazines, and blogs.
